Rob Heffernan

Ireland’s gold medal winner at the Moscow World Championships, 2013.

An Irish race walker, whose career has already seen him to four Olympics, Rob is now aiming for the Olympics in Rio, 2016. This is the most attended by an Irish athlete.

Robert Heffernan recently claimed a gold medal in the 50k walk at the World Track and Field Championships, in Moscow. The result follows his fourth place finish at the London Olympics, in which he came agonizingly close to securing a bronze medal. He has become the first Irish athlete to win gold at the World Championships since Sonia O’Sullivan, in 1995, and only the second ever male athlete to triumph at the event, after Eamonn Coghlan in 1983.

IN-NYC and BZHNY host the second annual Interceltic Fest Noz Night of Celtic Music and Dance.

Venue: Connolly’s Times Square (upstairs)

Headline act is Celtic Rock band The Micky Finns who will take to the stage following a Traditional Irish Music Session, performances by professional Irish Dance companies Emerald Fire Dance and Darrah Carr Dance and a performance by the Niall O’Leary Irish Dance School. Entry fee is $10 for members of INNYC and BZHNY and $20 for non-members.

Please join us at our annual IN-NYC 2013 Summer Party! This year we will be hosting our party at an amazing venue in the heart of the Meatpacking District, where we will be partying till late on the 2nd floor. This is going to be a legendary party not to be missed! IN-NYC Members FREE, Non-Members $20 (most welcome), but only $50 for IN-NYC Membership.

We sincerely hope you enjoy being a member of INNYC and THANK YOU for being a continuing member. The summer party is a great way for INNYC to gain new members and allows us to plan even bigger and better events, so please bring your friends and show support!

Live entertainment will be provided by the renowned McLean Avenue band, led by IN-NYC member Padraig Allen and also featuring Dublin based professional Irish Dance Troupe “Emerald Fire Dance” with choreography by IN-NYC member Joanna Barry-Connolly. Irish DJ, “Paul C” will then take over and keep the party going until late. Complimentary food will be provided.

GOAL USA with support from IN-NYC will be hosting a raffle on the night with 100% proceeds from the raffle going towards GOAL’s efforts of providing basic needs such as food, water, shelter, medical attention and education to people affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. Great prizes on the night such as an autographed 2012 All Star Hurling jersey, $500 voucher from Bono & Ali Hewson’s clothing line, Tiffany’s jewelry and much more!
